Double Blind

This artwork is painted onto two layers of bamboo blinds to present contrasting meaning. The front blind has images of flowers, textiles, parasols, and festival flags. The back screen has an enormous portrait of a young girl’s face expressing (fear and sadness) screaming and crying. The images on each of the screens have two contradictory meanings: the young girl signifies innocence, fragility, purity and the need for protection. The screaming and crying signifies loss, unhappiness and abuse. “Unlike adults, kids never cry from happiness”.

มู่ลี่มี 2 ชั้น ชั้นแรกเป็นรูปดอกไม้ ผ้าไหม ลายไทย ตุง ร่ม งานหัตถกรรมต่างๆ เจาะมู่ลี่แผ่นหน้า เปิดให้เห็น แผ่นหลังเป็นรูปใบหน้าเด็กหญิงขนาดใหญ่ กำลังร้องไห้ มีคราบน้าตา ซึ่งถูกพรางด้วยเส้นไม้ไผ่ ดอกไม้เป็นเครื่องหมายของการเชื้อเชิญ และจูงใจ ร่มเป็นสัญลักษณ์ ของการปกป้อง ศักดิ์และอำนาจ ส่วนเด็กคือ ความเดียงสา เปราะบาง และบริสุทธิ์ การร้องไห้จน คราบน้าตาอาบหน้า คือการสูญเสีย และทุกข์ระทม (เด็กต่างจากผู้ใหญ่ที่ จะไม่ร้องไห้จากความสุข) มู่ลี่ทั้ง2เมื่อติดตั้งแยกกันจะไม่สื่อความหมายอย่างใด แต่ความหมายจะเกิดขึ้นเมื่อติดตั้งซ้อนกัน
